COLLEGE HELP FOR STAFF FACING REDUNDANCY
Bury College has been playing a major role in preparing Argos staff for life
after redundancy.
Earlier this year the company announced that it was closing its distribution centre at Manchester 's
Trafford Park which employed more than 200 people.
Since then, Argos has worked with the college's Business Solutions (BS) and around 120 staff members
took part in some form of training. BS has been the main provider of training courses, offering both short courses and NVQs to Argos staff.
Linda Sheen of Argos said:
"The cop-operation between the college and Argos has been great and the operation has been very successful."
The Trafford Park site has now shut.
Tutors were: Shelia Burns (Left) Sue Crabb (4th from right) Graham Wilson (Right) Jane Lyle (2nd from Right, External Verifier for Warehousing).
The Argos staff are from the Heywood Distribution: Completed NVQ in Retail and Warehousing.
